ANALYSIS OF LEXICON IN INTERNET CHAT-GROUPS DISCOURSE

The author briefly reviews the use of slang in the discourse of Internet chat-groups. Identified examples are analysed under three separate categories distinguished on the basis of their origin to slang created through metathesis, loan-words, and slang created through suffixation. The paper also compares the slang used in its natural environment – speech, and the slang present in written electronic discourse of Internet chat-groups.
