The paper examines the mechanism of postulating the order within which a single system is obeyed. Hence, our attention is directed towards the authority patterns exercising power by means of discipline and surveillance enforcement. The questions thus raised are concerned with the following: the interference of sexuality and knowledge, the relevance of the symbolical capitalism within a family unit, reproductively directed, the imposed principle of the symbolical established within social relations affi rming the logic of the rule, and the father and son relationship into which Rastko Petrović integrates the notion of paternalism, with the subject that is to be further reinforced, as well as disintegrated. The authority, exercised by means of diverse control and surveillance mechanisms, takes central position in the novel, encompassing all the segments of a family structure in order to degenerate and disintegrate it at the same time.
